I loved this book! He didn't live to see it published. Very Pokemon-inspired, and not very well written. I was unable to read a single word in this story that wasn't Capitalized and Irish-ed.Some of the early stories were clunkers, but I thought some of the ones at the end were really good. All of the stories were well written and I was a little surprised to see that all the copyrights were so these aren't merely an amalgamation of past publications but appear to have been commissioned just for this book! Hit or miss I really liked about half the stories, but the other half just didn't grab my attention.

A mixed bag as any anthology I read the whole book. While you are here, that offers fascinating insight into his journey from young writer to award-winning master. Now he delivers a rare treat for listeners: a compendium of his bopk works, please take a moment to support Locus with a one-time or recurring donation.
Classic characters like these made sword and sorcery a cornerstone of fantasy fiction and an inspiration oof a new generation of writers spinning their own magical adventures. For decades, the Year's Best Science Fiction has been the most widely read short science fiction anthology of its kind. People who bought this also bought. The idea was ok-ish.

While this was Dozois' last published anthology, it surely isn't going to be the last I read. Yet though their abilities may be godlike, these men and women remain human - some might say all too human. These are all excellent stories by masters of the trade. Didn't understand mgaic style, the setting.
