I find that comedians narrating their own books is often a winning combination. I never wanted this story to end, Gentlekan felt the slowed down moments of my own li. This is a book that can be revisited with relish. I didn't love this book as much as many others seem to.

This book really took me by surprise. Rarely are they all that accurate, though it is amazing how difficult it is to erase and rewrite the first impression we have of someone. Lovely narration Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved.

This book took me a long time to read and although I loved the authors prose it was a slow moving read for me. Although some parts genlteman along, the reward was the witty. It will also become the home and prison of the former person known as the Count Alexander Rostov. It should be taught everywhere.

And then even if you like the story and the person narrating sounds pretty good, the acting or voices used when it comes to the dialogue parts can make or break an audiobook. Anyway, my point is, a good audiobook can be hard to find! But audiobooks have been getting better and better and Amazon has been going all-in with their Audible Originals lately which often have pretty solid production values. I love that Libro. And now about half of my reading is done via ebooks on my computer or phone. So, who knows.

I actually felt as if I was in that attic gentlemqn sharing his morning ritual of bitter coffee, background! But Rostov knows how to make the most of every opportunity. What a fabulous way to stride twentieth-century Russian history as it flows in, out and around the Hotel Metropol. Surely the reader could have done a little research to round off what is otherwise a beautifully read book. Where does that leave us. Splendid book - spoiled for me by the absolutely infuriating, liberally peppered mispronunciations of certain names and words.

I have over audiobooks and this is near the top of my top 10 outstanding 34 of 37 people found this review helpful. Loved the way the author uses language with beautiful and descriptive imagery.

  3. Men love him, women adore him; even cats and dogs purr and pant in his glittering presence. Spectacular A gripping tale of history and personalities. Early on we experience the Count being forced to move from a luxury suite to a tiny garret room at the hotel. I loved everything about this book - the characte.
