We're tearing through the cramped, dank streets of the capital, running for our lives from the New Order police and their trained wolves. My calves are burning, my shoulders ache, and my mind is numb from all that's happened. I stumble through this strange, awful world we have inherited, past a mass of the sick who are shuddering from more than just the cold. A man collapses at my feet, and I have to wrestle my arm away from a woman holding a baby and pointing at me, shrieking, "The One has judged! He has judged you! And then there's the blood. Mothers scratch at open pustules, and children cough into rags stained red.

But the growing strength of the siblings' magic hasn't been enough to stop the One's evil rampage! Whit jumps through the portal but he loses Wisty. Mothers scratch at open pustules, and children cough into rags stained red. All will be revealed in this last spectacular "ride" - a brand-new grand finale featuring all of the nonstop action, wait-we spoke too soon, twists. Chapter 42 Whoa, but that is just me. I personally don't like to not finish a book after I start reading it.

They aren't interested, but that was because everything I wanted to happen did. I know I didn't list any complaints, though. More filters. Wisty's worried that The One is going to be there.

Her feet encounter something solid. I can't just sit here and wjzard her get weaker, watch her float in and out of consciousness until her world finally goes dark. But I ranted enough about that in previous reviews for this series. View 1 comment.

I will read the next couple books in the series. H proudly informs them that there is a time when all parents must be disobeyed and gives them knowledge about how the rest of the journey for them will progress, if it is to be successful. The whole story felt disjointed and lacking in substance with skips in time without the how or where at times. I guess I am just a glutton for punishment.

  1. Cancel anytime. Now part of a hidden community of teens like themselves, Whit and Wisty have established themselves as leaders of the Resistance, willing to sacrifice anything to save kids kidnapped and brutally imprisoned by the New Order. The world is changing - the government has seized control of almost everything and kids are disappearing. For 15 year-old Wisty and her older brother, Whit, life turns upside-down when they are hauled out of bed one night, separated from their parents, and thrown into a secret compound for no reason they can comprehend, except that the new government is clearly trying to suppress Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. 🥳

  2. In the end, the mission is finally completed but they keep switching on and off about whether it's worth risking their lives to defeat a villain with such high authority and power. Celia asks Whit where he is. Bet you never saw that one coming. No, not the Visitor-it's their old friend Byron Wuzard.
